There are many studies point out the benefits of drinking a glass of red wine per day (as for women), and 2 glasses of red wine a day (as for men) can lower the risk of heart attack for middle age people between 30-50 percent. Red wine may also prevent additional heart attack if you already suffered once. Other studies state that red wine can raise HDL Cholesterol and prevent LDL Cholesterol from forming. Red wine may help prevent clots and reduce blood vessel damage caused by fat deposit.

A: Red wine is a high source of antioxidants flavonoid phenolics, particularly resveratrol and flavonoids. Resveratrol can be found in grape skins and seeds. Resveratrol increases HDL Cholesterol and prevent blood clotting. Flavanoids exhibit antioxidant properties prevent blood clot and plaques formation in arteries.
But do not start drinking alcohol if you are not already drink alcohol as it may increase cancer risk as suggested by other studies.
